California artist Lisa Reinertson created the incredible sculpture, Sleep of Reason, and would like to donate her gorilla sculpture to the Karen C. Drayer Wildlife Health Center (WHC), the UC Davis home of Gorilla Doctors. The sculpture, standing 6-1/2 feet tall, will be permanently placed in the public foyer of the WHC building on campus. The artist has pledged to donate her sculpture as soon as the WHC can raise at least $10,000 for Gorilla Doctors.

Lisa’s art brings endangered animals into places where people dwell, to remind us to preserve and protect space for other intelligent life on Earth. Reinertson’s work has been featured in exhibitions and museums both nationally and internationally, including the Crocker Art Museum, Oakland Museum, Arizona State University Art Museum, and the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy. Reinertson completed her master’s degree in fine art at UC Davis in 1984, studying with Robert Arneson and Manuel Neri. She has completed over 20 public commissions, has held professorships at several institutions of higher learning and is Adjunct Faculty with the San Francisco Art Institute.
