Gorilla Doctors + The Intrepid Foundation: Marching for Conservation
By Gorilla Doctors Staff on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 in Blog.By Dr. Jean Bosco ‘Noel’ Noheri
If we are to see a thriving population of wild eastern gorillas and wildlife in general, we need strategic partners who believe that each of us has the power to create positive change, and who understand that when we work together, that change can be even more impactful.
Last month I traveled to Nairobi, Kenya for a “March in March” hosted by Intrepid Travel and The Intrepid Foundation, who became strategic partners of Gorilla Doctors in 2023. Their event brought together staff, partners, friends, and supporters to learn about, celebrate, and highlight the growing need for collaboration in creating meaningful positive change for nature.

The 5.5km walk coincided with International Women’s Day, with all speeches emphasizing the urgent need to elevate women’s voices and actions in service of Mother Nature. The smiling faces at the finish line reminded me how joyful and powerful it is to walk together with shared purpose and passion.
We concluded the day by planting trees in a local forest. On behalf of Gorilla Doctors, I planted two trees. Meeting these wonderful people was an honor, and the tree-planting was the highlight, as it allowed me to reflect on how strengthening forests helps everything living in and under the canopy. By supporting conservation efforts, we create tangible ways to protect our planet’s future health, its diverse wildlife, and human communities. I am excited to visit “our” trees to see how they are thriving. Thank you, Intrepid!
