Sculptor Lisa Reinertson will be exhibiting her new body of work entitled “Edge of Extinction” at the Pence Gallery in Davis, Caifornia next month. Gorilla Doctors Co-Director Dr. Kirsten Gilardi will join Reinertson for a talk on “Hope for Endangered Animals” and the work of the Gorilla Doctors on May 18th at the gallery. Reinertson has generously pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds for any sales of her gorilla sculptures to Gorilla Doctors!

Lisa Reinertson is known both for her large scale figurative ceramic sculptures and for her significant public memorials in bronze, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Cesar Chavez. She has returned to working primarily in clay to produce this new body of work on view at the Pence Gallery from April 26 through June 14. 

Reinertson’s work has been featured in exhibitions and museums both nationally and internationally, including the Crocker Art Museum, Oakland Museum, Arizona State University Art Museum, and the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy. Reinertson completed her master’s degree in fine art at UC Davis, studying with Robert Arneson and Manuel Neri. She has completed over 20 public commissions, has held professorships at several institutions of higher learning and is Adjunct Faculty with the San Francisco Art Institute.
