Gorilla Doctors welcomed some very distinguished visitors this month to our Musanze headquarters in Rwanda: a group comprised of a US Senator, a neurosurgeon, as well as attorneys and executives from the Coca-Cola Company, Pershing Square Foundation and Johnson and Johnson met with our Rwanda veterinarians and enjoyed a dinner with our Regional Manager, Dr. Jan Ramer.

Dr. Bill Frist, a heart and lung transplant surgeon in Tennessee, served two terms as United States senator until his retirement in 2007 and is a former board member for Gorilla Doctors/ MGVP. Serving as Chair of Save the Children’s “Newborn and Child Survival” campaign and the Nashville-based Hope Through Healing Hands, Senator Frist is focused on domestic health reform, the science of heart transplantation, global health policy, economic development in low-income countries, health care disparities, medical mission around the world, the health of the mountain gorilla, and HIV/AIDS.

Gorilla Doctors would like to thank Senator Frist and his fellow traveling companions for taking the time to meet with our veterinarians and learn about our work!
